Cieszyn is a border-town and the administrative seat of Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies opposite Český Těšín in Czech Silesia. The town has about 36,100 inhabitants.
The Duchy of Cieszyn, also Duchy of Teschen or Duchy of Těšín was an autonomous Silesian duchy centered on Cieszyn in Upper Silesia. During the feudal division of Poland it was split off with the Duchy of Racibórz in 1281 and ruled by Silesian dukes...
